Arriving in Inverness, you’ll be welcomed by Ashley and Natalia at a charming city-centre hotel. Nestled in a peaceful location, it’s the perfect spot to relax and prepare for the week ahead. After settling in, you'll have the chance to explore the nearby restaurants and shops, all within easy walking distance.
Departing Ullapool, you’ll journey north into the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands, where the landscape becomes even more dramatic. Our destination is the charming coastal village of Tongue, stopping at lesser known Neolithic sites along the way.
You’ll start the day by visiting the ancient Grey Cairns of Camster, a set of 5,000-year-old burial chambers. From there, you’ll explore the intriguing Hill o’ Many Stanes, a remarkable Neolithic site featuring rows of standing stones fanning out across the hillside.
Step back in time at Clava Cairns, where you’ll explore the 3,000 BCE burial tombs and standing stone circles. From there, enjoy a scenic drive along the shores of Loch Ness, stopping at to take in the legendary landscape. We’ll stay in the picturesque coastal town of Ullapool, on Scotland’s west coast.
Heading to Thurso, we'll catch a ferry to the Orkney Islands. Upon arrival, you’ll visit the magnificent St. Magnus Cathedral, a masterpiece of Viking craftsmanship. The afternoon is yours to explore the charming town of Kirkwall, with plenty of artisan shops.
Drive down the scenic A9, we’ll explore Neolithic cairns and Pictish brochs. The day culminates at the spectacular Dunrobin Castle, a stunning museum of Scottish history. After soaking in the grandeur of the castle, you’ll conclude your journey back in Inverness.
On day three, you’ll take a ferry to the breathtaking Outer Hebrides, where you’ll explore the awe-inspiring Callanish Stones, an ancient stone circle that dates back to around 5,000 BCE. After visiting these enigmatic stones, we’ll return to Stornoway to relax and stay overnight.
An early start takes you to the Neolithic village of Skara Brae, followed by a visit to the iconic Ring of Brodgar standing stone circle. Next, step inside Maeshowe Burial Chamber, a masterpiece of Neolithic architecture, before we take the ferry back to Caithness.

It will be early Summer in Scotland so you will only require light weight outdoor gear but bring strong, good quality, waterproof hiking boots with good grips.
