Requirements
What To Bring
It will be late summer in Colombia, so lightweight outdoor gear will be sufficient. That said, sturdy, waterproof hiking boots with strong grips are essential. While the days can be very warm, sudden sheet lightning and heavy monsoon-like rains can occur without warning, so bring adaptable, all-weather lightweight mountaineering clothing to be prepared for every condition.
Day backpack
Metal Detecting Equipment
T-shirts for daytime and a sweater and long trousers for evenings
Hiking boots and absorbable cotton socks
100% water proof jacket or raincoat
Sunscreen, sun hat and a water bottle
Head torch with spare batteries
Toiletries and any personal medications
Fitness
During this journey, you will encounter a range of climates while walking at elevations between 2,800 and 3,100 meters. The experience will provide a gentle physical challenge, so your enjoyment will depend on maintaining good health and general fitness.
Altitude sickness can occasionally occur at these heights. To ease potential symptoms, we provide coca leaves for making tea, though we recommend consulting a medical professional before your trip to ensure you are personally prepared for the conditions of Colombia and this style of expedition.
Insurance
The expedition cost does not include insurance. You are required to obtain comprehensive travel insurance that covers trip cancellation or interruption, missed flight connections, lost baggage, unforeseen circumstances, death, injury or illness, medical expenses, and emergency assistance.
